Report: Turkey hopes to start gas hub works in January 2023

ANKARA, Nov 18 (PRIME) -- Turkey expects to start working on a gas hub under a Russian proposal at the beginning of 2023, Energy and Natural Resource Minister Fatih Donmez told channel NTV on Friday.

"We plan to define the roadmap until the end of the year. And to start works under the project from the beginning of 2023, " Donmez said.

The minister said that Turkey is in negotiations with several potential gas suppliers.

Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan earlier ordered the governments of both countries to work on creation of a gas hub in Turkey swiftly and in detail. The hub could be used to transfer transit of gas from the Nord Stream pipelines to the Black Sea region, and Erdogan thinks that Europe could receive Russian gas through Turkey.
